“Every instrument is given space to shine, every theme is
thoughtfully developed, and the overall experience is immersive, transporting
the listener through Nordic forests, Eastern vistas, and exquisitely
constructed sonic architectures.”
— Progressive Rock Journal
“The shadows may thicken and the forest may call out, but
Grovjobb’s 2025 return promises that their deeply textured, ever-changing
timbres are perhaps more vital and compelling than ever.”
— Psychedelic Baby Magazine
Grovjobb
The legendary Swedish band Grovjobb is now returning into the still existing worlds of Now! After more than 20 years of silence, the group made its first re-appearance as ‘resurrected’ at Psykstämman, a psychedelic music festival located on an island outside Gothenburg, in the summer of 2023. There they re-connected with a totally enthusiastic audience consisting of both old fans and new music lovers. The magical spark was ignited, and yet again, burned brightly with full fiery force. Wish upon a star eight times, direction Saturn, and suddenly, Abra Cadabra, a brand new LP by Grovjobb is now again ready for landing at your local record dealer, titled Nallebjörn är död (Teddy Bear is Dead). The excitement is at its peak, and the gnomes are once again inviting everyone to the party.
Grovjobb, one of the most magically shimmering instrumental groups from the progressive underground scene of the Swedish 90s, quickly made a name for themselves as a vibrant live band, but the group also released three critically acclaimed albums (on Garageland Records) that are now all sought-after collector's items. In addition, they received appreciative reviews in leading psychedelic, progressive publications of the time, such as Ptolemaic Terrascope and Crohinga Well.
The heart and brain behind Grovjobb is the totally enchanting guitarist Jerry Johansson, also a sitar master and composer. Thus, much of his music is filtered through Indian-coloured glasses, with light clouds of Swedish folk music floating freely somewhere in the middle of it all. The unicorns dances, the shadows thicken, and all the trees of the forest call out for more. Illuminated songs, intricate arrangements, and pulsating, ever-changing timbres make this comeback one that is not to be missed!
